Day 1: London to Neath

I left Richmond at 7PM and flew to Atlanta. After a 2 hour layover my flight left for London. I arrived an hour early meeting Sally at Starbucks at Heathrow Airport. I walked from Customs and ran right into her coming in the door. Perfect timing! She had been staying with Ashley and Jay at their flat for a few days previously.

We took a bus from Heathrow Airport to Swansea, Wales, then another bus to Neath where we were staying at the Bluebell Hotel. We go off the bus and had a short walk to our hotel.

What a surprise we had when right next door to our hotel was the Full Moon Hotel. This was a place listed in my grandmother's journal when she went to Wales in 1896. She wrote: "David Morgan, Full Moon Hotel, Neath, Wales". Sally, of course, had to investigate and walked inside while I registered at our hotel. She talked to the manager and he knew nothing of the hotel's history other than it was very old. The current owner had owned the hotel for only 7 years.

We settled into our room and were pleasantly surprised by the accommodations. Very nice hotel! We ate dinner at the attached restaurant and went to bed. It had been a long day!
